Chapter 6 " Out of the Frying Pan and into the Fire." Questions.
How does Bilbo react to the loss of his company?How does the company react to the loss of Bilbo? Bilbo felt miserable because he couldn't find them, and wondering if he should go lokking for them. They argue about going to look for Bilbo or just continue their journey.
Compare and contrast Bilbo"s story of what happened to him. How do you account for the differences? What would you have done if you were Bilbo? Bilbo went into details( abotu Gollum) and the narrator gave a descrition of what happend to him when he was going into the cave and about the riddles he gave to Gollum and what gollum gave to him. And in this capter when he was reunited with Gandalf and the dwarves. If I were Bilbo I probally would have done the same thing.
How has Bilbo changed since chapter 1? Bilbo used to be sort of just a scared little hobbit having everything he needed always beside him and not really ever wanted to do anything heroic, but ever since his experiences throughout each chapter, he comes out of his shell a little bit and learns to be heroic when timing calls fo it.
Riddle competitons have been used since primitive times to decide the fate of someone of something. How is this tradition reflected in the company's reaction to Bilbo's story? Bilbo leaves out the part about the ring in his story to the wizard and dwarves. The company makes a decision to take Bilbo with him but they didn't have to. So in a way his story decided his fate for him.
What functions does the setting sever in this chapter? The trees served a a good point in this chapter because it stood as a way of protection from the wolves.
