A: Bilbo finally finds a way to escape the dwarves and is treated very well at the Kings palace.

A: Bilbo has to pry the lids off and the dwares are all frozen in the shape that they were pushed out of the trap door in,


3. Explain the guards reaction to the company?

A: The guards get excited because Thorin told them a tale that he was a famous legend and that he would make their river turn to gold.

A: MAster is the head of the lakemen and is very powerful and demanding.


5. Explain the townspeoples reaction to the company?

A: They enjoy the company because the dwarves are new to town and different.


6. In what way is the Elvenking wrong about the dwarves plans?

A: He thinks they just want to find their way home and they are really heading up the dragons lair or mountain.


7. What do you think is the meaning of the chapter title ''A Warm Welcome"?

A: It is the way the king treats teh dwarves while they are in his town and how he feeds and houses them.





Chapter 11

1. What is the role of the settings in this chapter?

A: In this chapter they are on the mountain of the dragon and it is a good thing because they will need to be there in the end.


2. How do various members of the company react to the closed door?

A: They are dissappointed because they didnt know how else to get into the mountain.


3. Give some examples of advice the dwarves have not taken so far in the book?

A: To be patient and to have back up plans.


4. Find an example of foreshadowing in this chapter. What do you make of it?

A: When Bilbo finds the ring and first uses it it shows he has a way or protection.


5. Describe the relationship of the dwarves and the hobbit in this chapter.

A: They get very close because Bilbo saved their lives and got them out of prison and i s becoming a very reliable friend.


6. What do you make of the thrush?

A: I think it sounds really cool and i want to see one or have a picture of one.


7. How does the descroption of what happens when the door opens affect you?

A: It kind of made me excited that they were getting closer to the treasure.
